Fingertip Ticket

The Istanbul equivalent of an Oystercard. Front… Photos: Nicolai Steinø

This little thing is neither a miniature Chinese spoon, nor a scale model of the Holmenkollen Ski Hopp by JDS Architects. It is a ticket for the Istanbul subway system.

Designed to fit nicely in yout thumb, it lives in your keychain. When entering the subway, you take it out and press the metal part on the back against a reader which counts down the number of remaining rides stored on it by one. Similarly, you can press it against a recharging machine an recharge it with a credit card.

Only drawback: It’s pink, which is why I show it in black and white.

… and back
